Carrie Underwood sings a cappella at Trump’s inauguration after audio issues
She didn’t let a momentary audio glitch disrupt her performance of "America the Beautiful" on Inauguration Day; instead, she made it a part of the show.
After finishing his speech, Underwood sang "America the Beautiful" a cappella, even though it looked like a technical issue had held up the performance.
"Could you please help me out if you know the words," she said to the crowd.
The "American Idol" winner, wearing a light gray dress, was accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club at the Capitol Rotunda for her performance. However, it seemed as though there were technical and audio issues right before she began singing.
Underwood stood still and silent, seeming to find the pause amusing, and after hesitating briefly, she jumped over stepping on the audio signal altogether and asked for the help of the people in the Rotunda. The room burst into applause after she finished.
For Trump's inauguration last week, she stated at the time that she was honored to be a part of the ceremonies.

I'm honored to step forward at a moment when we need to put aside our differences and look towards a brighter future together.
Underwood wasn’t the only performer on Monday in the Rotunda. Opera tenor Christopher Macchio sang both "Oh, America!" and the national anthem to a crowd that included members of Congress, tech CEOs, and former presidents. Immediately after Underwood was sworn in, the Navy Glee Club sang "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."
