The rapper has stayed out of the spotlight over the past decade following a reported heart attack in 2009.
I had some health problems that started to develop because I wasn't eating a healthy diet and that was a result of not taking care of myself. XXL In a 2010 interview, the conversation went like this: I got to get healthy, not just for my own sake, but also for the sake of my children and my wife.
“From what I see, it's stemming from a lack of exercise and a poor diet,” the rapper continued. “To be honest, everyday I'm pushing myself to make something happen in my household, I'm non-stop on the go, constantly on airplanes, dealing with different weather conditions, and it's just exhausted me. It's been a real source of stress.”
Although he felt "blessed" to be keeping busy with his concerts, Unk made the decision to prioritize his health by cutting back on drinking and smoking as well.

When I go out, I still enjoy myself like I used to. I have a drink or two before I go on stage," he said. "I just don't party as much as I used to.
Throughout this difficult period, he also found solace in his faith.
“Everything was so quick. Now I pray twice a day instead of once before, Unk added. “I'm grateful to be here.”
