The world’s largest waterfall lies 2,000 meters beneath the ocean

The world's largest waterfall is situated over 2,000 meters beneath the ocean's surface, situated in the Denmark Strait, which is situated between Greenland and Iceland.

Known as the Denmark Strait Cataract, this underwater waterfall plunges approximately 3,500 meters and carries an astonishing volume of 162 million cubic meters of water. At a height of over 2,000 meters, it surpasses the height of Angel Falls in Venezuela, the tallest waterfall on land.

The cataract originates as a result of temperature discrepancies between energ plays of water that meet at the strait.

This is the meeting point where cold water from the Nordic seas flows southward and converges with warmer water from the Irminger Sea.

At the bottom of the strait, a chain of underwater waterfalls starts, with depths ranging from 609 meters to 3,000 meters.
